A grand design spiral galaxy of type SA(s)c in constellation Pisces at a distance of 34 MLy. The galaxy has a diameter of appx. 92000 light years
and shows spiral arms extending very far from the core into space. the southern spiral arm (up in this image) is the most prominent, which can
be explained by gravitational effects of two companion glaxies (UGC1176 and UGC1171). Both of these companion galaxies are not within the
frame, as they are more than 1° away from M74..
